Lawrence Dallaglio OBE
A former flanker and captain of the England rugby union team, Lawrence Dallaglio is known to many rugby fans as one of the best players of his generation. Also representing Premiership side Wasps for 18 years, Lawrence is part of England’s golden generation that won the Grand Slam and Rugby World Cup in 2003. Now, in his role as one of the best rugby after-dinner speakers around, he frequently discusses his highly successful rugby career, able to give audiences an insight into life at the pinnacle of elite sport.
Born and bred in Shepherd’s Bush in London, he made his debut for Wasps in 1990 aged just 18. Even from this young age, it was clear to see the immense talent he possessed and Lawrence went on to become one of the club’s greatest ever players. During his time at the club, he won five Premiership titles, including the club’s first of the professional era. A consummate professional and serial winner, his final game in professional rugby saw him captain the side to a Premiership final win over the Leicester Tigers in 2008.
Lawrence thrived on the international stage, too, and was the only player to play every minute of the world cup winning campaign for England in 2003. In total, he played 85 times for his country, representing it in some of the biggest matches in rugby history.
