Akala is a rapper, journalist, author, activist and incredible diversity speaker.

As an award-winning rapper, Akala was voted as the Best Hip Hop Act at the MOBO Awards in 2006 and is also the recipient of a BAFTA.
In recent years, he has perhaps become best known for his activism and in 2021 was named by Powerlist as one of the 100 most influential black British people.
What is Akala best known for?
Akala is one of the UK’s leading diversity activists, regularly performing keynote speeches and lectures on a variety of topics. He has also written several best-selling books including Natives, Visions and Hip and Hop: You Can Do Anything.
In 2009, he founded The Hip-Hop Shakespeare Company, a music theatre company that aims to bring the arts to minority groups and compare the social and cultural issues today with the works of William Shakespeare.
