Bernard Gallacher OBE is a former professional golfer and Ryder Cup captain, regarded as one of the defining figures in European golf.

Bernard Gallacher OBE turned professional in 1967 after winning the Scottish Amateur Open Stroke Play Championship and won ten times on the European Tour between 1974 and 1984. In 1969, aged just 20, he became the youngest player to represent Great Britain in the Ryder Cup. He went on to play in the competition eight times before serving as non-playing captain of the European team in 1991, 1993 and 1995, leading Europe to victory in his final year in charge.
Bernard spent 25 years as head professional at Wentworth Club until the end of 1996, the same year he was awarded the OBE for services to golf. He was made captain of Wentworth Club in 2000, becoming the first professional to be given that honour at the club where he had served. In 2022 he was awarded Life Membership of the PGA in recognition of his contribution to the sport.
