Evolve Sponsors Young Ice Hockey Superstar Mason Newman

We are delighted to announce that we are sponsoring 11-year-old ice hockey sensation, Mason Newman, for the upcoming season.

Here at Evolve, we are proud to be sponsoring Mason, helping to support him with his equipment and travelling to and from events for the 2023-24 season.

Mason, from Arnold, began his career in the sport back in 2018 with Sutton Sting Ice Hockey club before joining the Nottingham Ice Hockey Club. He has since undertaken training camps across the country and had some incredible achievements.

During the 2021-22 season, Mason’s final one as an U10, he played up to 12A and 12B all season. Some of his achievements here include being a part of the U12s team that won the league; the top point scorer at U12s for Midlands region, whilst playing up an age group; and winning the U12Bs Sheffield National Tournament. Additionally, during this season he captained the winning U10s team twice at the Sheffield National Tournament, also being awarded Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.

His achievements continued into last season, 2022-23, which was his first season as an U12. During this he played up to U14A and U14B and some of his key successes include being a first line player; and the top point scorer and best forward for NIHC U14Bs. He also participated in his first International Select Tournament, in Paris, where he was the only UK player. He played with and against children from around the world and successfully matched their ability. Here, he was top point scorer for EU Select Red team and the only player to score against Finland and Sweden on his team.

Mason has been selected, 1 of 36 children, to travel to Slovakia for a training and game camp in January 2024. This is the start of his England Pathway and could open up doors for future opportunities to represent his country.

Following additional trials, Mason has also been selected to take part in the Elite British Select Winter Draft Tournament in December 2024. This is the final stage in the selection process, with the end goal to be part of a AAA squad to play in an international tournament in Riga, Latvia in April 2024.

Mason has a clear talent and passion for the sport, attending ice practice sessions four times a week, averaging six and a half hours; doing strength and conditioning workouts off-ice with a dedicated coach; and regularly practising shooting at home.

With dreams such as representing England and Great Britain on the international stage; and becoming the first British player to play in the NHL, Evolve is excited to help Mason on his journey to success.
