A former fast bowler, Andy Caddick is an ex-England international cricketer who was hugely successful in the 1990s and noughties. In a career that spanned more than 15 years, he was regarded as one of the most talented players on both the international and domestic stages. Born in New Zealand to English parents, he found his cricketing opportunities slim in the country of his birth and grew frustrated. So, he made the decision to move to the UK and try his luck there. It was a good decision. In 1991 he signed for county cricket team Somerset, and shone in the side as an exceptional bowler.
Two years later, he was selected for the England national team for the first time in an ODI with Australia. The following month, he made his Test debut in the Ashes against the same opposition. Andy appeared sporadically for the team since then, but from 1996 onwards found himself selected more regularly.
In 2000 during a Test series against the West Indies, he became only the fourth bowler in England’s history to take four wickets in a single six-ball over. This stunning performance went a long way in helping England achieve victory over the West Indies for the first time since 1969.
