David James MBE
One of England’s most famous goalkeepers, David James had a stellar career in professional football representing Liverpool, Manchester City, West Ham, Aston Villa and more over the course of 26 years. Playing more than 800 professional matches including spells in Iceland and India, he won the League Cup with Liverpool in 1995 and FA Cup with Portsmouth in 2008. Since retiring from the game, he’s worked as a popular TV pundit and one of the greatest football speakers around. Having spent more than two decades at the very top of professional football, his insight and collection of fascinating anecdotes make him a hit every time.
David’s career began in 1988 when he made his debut for Watford against Millwall. His commanding presence in goal saw him earn the attention of some of the country’s biggest clubs and in 1992 he signed for Liverpool. Fifth on the list of all-time Premier League appearances with a staggering 572 matches in the top flight, for many years he also held the record for the cleanest sheets (169) before it was broken by Petr Cech.
