Dietmar Hamann is a former Liverpool, Manchester City and Germany midfielder who spent more than a decade playing in the Premier League. Best-known for his time with Liverpool, Didi, as he is affectionately known among supporters, won two FA Cups, one League Cup and was part of the club’s iconic 2005 Champions League victory during his time at Anfield.

In 1998, he arrived in English football initially signing for Newcastle United. After just one season with the club, he moved on to Liverpool where he earned a reputation as one of the league’s best midfielders. In 2001, he was an integral part of the team that won a ‘treble’ of the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup under Gerard Houllier. In 2005, Didi played a crucial role as Liverpool overturned a 3-0 halftime deficit to win the Champions League final on penalties after a 3-3 draw with Italian heavyweights AC Milan.
