Karun Chandhok
Karun Chandhok is a former Formula 1 driver and one of India’s most famous ever racing drivers. Having also competed in a number of other driving championships during his successful career, he’s one of the most knowledgeable motorsport personalities around. With this in mind, he’s worked as a commentator, reporter and analyst of Formula 1 for a wide-range of broadcasters including Sky Sports, BBC Sport and Channel 4.

Born and bred in India, his father was a multiple rallying champion so it was no surprise when Karun followed in his footsteps. In 2000, he became an Indian National Racing Champion when he won seven out of ten races in Formula Maruti. From here, he moved on to a number of other driving championships including driving for Durango in the GP2 Series in 2007.
Karun was soon noticed by F1 sides. In fact, he was even called upon to test cars for Red Bull Racing in Barcelona. He also became the first Indian driver to be invited to join the British Racing Drivers’ Club.
In 2010, he was promoted to F1 driving for Hispania Racing alongside Bruno Senna. This move made him only the second-ever Indian driver to compete in Formula 1, making his debut in Bahrain. In 2011 he joined Lotus as a reserve driver before departing following the conclusion of the season.
When speaking at events, Karun is able to explain what it was like competing in the most high-profile motorsport event on the planet. Upon leaving Formula in 2012, Karun drove in a number of other championships including the World Endurance Championship, FIA GT Series and Formula E.
Making his final Formula E appearance in 2015, he’s since become known as one of the best motorsport broadcasters in the industry. Having worked for a whole host of British broadcasters covering Formula 1, in 2019 he joined Sky Sports F1 where he’s worked as a fantastic commentator and reporter ever since.
Extremely well-regarded in the sport, he’s also held roles at top motorsport governing bodies. This includes being a member of the FIA Driver’s Commission, and a member of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee at Motorsport UK. In this role, he’s responsible for advocating for more diversity within motorsport, an issue close to his heart and one he can discuss at his speaking events.
