Lee McKenzie
A popular journalist, broadcaster, event host and motorsport speaker, Lee McKenzie is one of the most recognisable faces in the world of motorsport broadcasting. Currently working as one of Channel 4’s main hosts of Formula 1 and W Series coverage, she’s previously worked as an F1 host for the likes of Sky Sports and BBC Sport. A sports aficionado, Lee has also fronted coverage of some of the biggest sporting events on the planet including the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Alongside her TV work, Lee can also be found working as one of the best motorsport speakers in the industry. Her unique position of spending years in a variety of motorsport paddocks puts her in a unique position to share her experiences with audiences everywhere.
From an early age, Lee had a passion for journalism and actually had her first journalism job when just 15 years old. Starting out in the world of news, she worked for Border Television where she worked on many high-profile stories including the Lockerbie bomber trial. Her first foray into sports journalism came for ITV on their horse racing programme At the Races. In her early career, she covered many different sporting events for a variety of broadcasters. This included the Rugby World Cup, Wimbledon, netball and football matches.
But, motorsport had always been a passion for Lee, and in 2009 she joined the BBC as a pit lane reporter for their Formula 1 coverage. Working in this role for the next six years, she also regularly deputised for the main presenter Jake Humphrey whenever he was unavailable. At all of her motorsport speaking events, she can discuss what it’s like being so close to the action in one of the world’s most famous and high-profile sports.
When the BBC decided to no longer broadcast Formula 1 in 2016, Lee was quickly snapped up by Channel 4 who picked up the rights. Remaining in her role as pit lane reporter, it wasn’t long until she was called upon to present the network’s coverage of other sporting events. This included the all-female single-seater racing championship the W Series, The Women’s European Football Championships, rugby union matches and Paralympic Games.
Lee McKenzie is one of the most versatile motorsport speakers on the speaking circuit. Not only can she share fascinating anecdotes and stories from a remarkable career, but she’s also available to book as an event host. In this role, she can help with award ceremonies, charity functions and more, ensuring your event remains on track while keeping audiences entertained and engaged.
