What are Martine Wright MBE’s achievements?
Since being permanently injured during London’s 7/7 bombings, Martine Wright MBE has overcome severe adversity to achieve huge success. This includes representing her country at the Paralympic Games in sitting volleyball.
This sporting achievement on the back of such a tragic event saw her win the prestigious Helen Rollason award at the 2012 BBC Sports Personality of the Year. She was also awarded an MBE in 2016.
What is Martine Wright MBE best known for?
Martine Wright MBE is best known for overcoming the tragic adversity of the 7/7 London terrorist attack and going on to become an inspirational Paralympic athlete. Following the attack in 2005, Martine lost both her legs, spent 10 days in a coma and lost 80% of her body’s blood.
Despite this, she didn’t let it hold her back and made her sitting volleyball debut for Great Britain in 2009 before representing her country at her home Paralympics in London in 2012.
