In 2017 Nicola became professional, going on to win the WBO interim flyweight title when she defeated the Mexican fighter Isabel Millan a year later. Unfortunately, in 2019 she sustained an eye injury during a fight that forced her into retirement. Continuing her career would have likely resulted in permanent and irreparable damage to her vision, and while she was disappointed to retire after just six professional fights, she was undefeated when she did so. Due to her charismatic, likeable and engaging personality, Nicola has also become a popular television personality. As well as appearing as a pundit at a number of high-profile boxing fights, she’s starred on a variety of primetime shows. In 2020 Nicola made even more history, becoming part of the first-ever same-sex couple to appear on Strictly Come Dancing. However, she sadly had to withdraw after testing positive for Covid-19.
