Former Campmates of I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here! Check out which of our speakers have starred in the jungle!

We are very excited that one of our speakers has entered the jungle this year. Rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall is the latest sports star to take on the jungle and so far ‘Vanilla Mike’ has been entertaining bandmates with his rapping skills and looks to be a popular figure in the camp, we wish Mike all the best during his time in the jungle. 

With the Jungle back on our screens we decided to take a look at some of our other speakers who’ve appeared on the show, looking back at their best moments in the jungle, as well as delving into what they’re up to now…

Mo Farah

One of the greatest Olympians in British history, Mo Farah took part in the 2020 series of the show. Due to Covid-19, this was held in a different venue – Gwrych Castle, North Wales, where it continued for the following series. Aside from his appearance on The Cube in 2012, this was Mo’s first step into the world of reality TV. A big fan of the show, Mo had watched every series for nine years prior to his appearance, and since one of his favourite sporting stars, Linford Christie won in 2010. Waiting for the right time in his career, Mo was delighted to feature. His excellent level of fitness and mental focus achieved him fifth place in the series, and a substantial reality media career following thereafter. 

James Haskell

Former England international, James Haskell, took part in the show in 2019 – the last show in Australia before the pandemic. A larger-than-life character, James brought humour and personality to the show, whilst also showing his determination in a variety of tasks. With his Rugby-strength and stature, it came as no surprise that James Haskell struggled with the lack of food faced throughout the show. Having a famously ‘hangry’ episode, this led James to have disagreements with fellow campmates, increasing entertainment for viewers. Since his appearance on the show, James has launched himself into media life. He has written books, has a large social media presence, and alongside former Rugby-star and current contestant, Mike Tindall, and Sky Sports presenter, Alex Payne, has launched a popular podcast – The Good The Bad & The Rugby.

Jacqueline Jossa

Winner of the 2019 series, actress and television presenter, Jacqueline Jossa boosted her media presence and success in the industry following her participation in the show. Best-know for playing the role of Lauren in EastEnders, Jacqueline became more recognised as herself as she opened-up on the screen throughout the experience. She said going into the jungle helped her find who she was as a person and increase her confidence dramatically. Following her victory, Jacqueline signed a six-figure deal with In the Style, collaborating with them in the online fashion industry. As a result of her increased following, she now works more as an influencer, advertising products on her social media channels to fans. 

Harry Redknapp

One of the most recognisable faces in English Football, Harry Redknapp was crowned the King of the Jungle in the 2018 series of the show. He was renowned throughout for his adoration of both his wife, Sandra, and his favourite jam roly-poly dessert. Harry won the hearts of the nations, restoring the belief in lifelong love, as well as providing viewers with humour following his continued talk of his passion for jam roly-polies. Harry displayed his down-to-earth, genuine, and truly personable self, making him a competition favourite. Since his win, Harry has launched an online business to bring his beloved jam roly-polies to the nation and has also been involved in various media and social campaigns and advertisements.

Iain Lee 

Iain Lee is a broadcaster, writer, television presenter, stand-up comedian and host who came third in the 2017 series. He is best known for his conflicts with other campmates, and as a result became a popular favourite with the public, as he was often at the centre of drama during the show. With the media being drawn to how he was treated and treated other celebrities in the jungle, his presence in the world of celebrity skyrocketed. The immediate media attention following the show took a toll on Iain, however he is now more sought-after than ever to speak and host at events. 

Scarlett Moffatt

Media personality and Gogglebox star, Scarlett Moffatt was crowned Queen of the Jungle for the 2016 series. Often remembered for falling headfirst out of a canoe before even entering camp, Scarlett very quickly became a lovable and humorous personality for both viewers, and amongst campmates. She used the platform of her victory to kickstart a presenting career and is now one of the UK’s most-loved TV presenters. Scarlett also works a lot on endorsements and TV deals, as well as having launched her very own BBC podcast which discusses conspiracy theories. She has stayed close to the show, and in 2017 presented the I’m A Celebrity Extra Camp.

Edwina Currie 

As a former politician, Edwina Currie naturally sparked interest as she entered the jungle in 2014. A writer and broadcaster also, she intrigued the nation, and came out being regarded in a positive and personable manner by the public. Edwina showed her determination for her campmates and achieved 18/24 stars through the trails she took part in. Edwina was renowned on the show for her many faces throughout the series, as she commonly displayed what she was thinking through her facial expressions. This added a comedic side to her which endeared viewers, and likely resulted in her coming a successful fourth place. 

Mark Wright

Regarded as one of the most memorable jungle hunks, Mark Wright participated in the show in 2011, finishing as the runner up, in second place. With his charismatic and lovable character having shone through on The Only Way is Essex, it was no surprise of his success. Being a popular favourite with his cheeky-chappy personality, and of course, as eye candy for the watching audience, the nation fell in love with him on the show. Taking challenges in his stride, Mark took to jungle life in a very personable and relaxed manner. Since his appearance in the show, he has undertaken much TV work and participated in many advertising campaigns. In 2012, he met his now-partner, actress Michelle Keegan, and the couple have remained in the limelight ever since.

Lembit Opik 

As a former British politician, Lembit Opik has been at the forefront of conversations again this year as he has shared his views and advice on the appearance of politician, Matt Hancock in the current series. Lembit featured on the show in 2010 and has warned Matt is likely to be voted in for various trials by the public. He has also voiced that he does not believe it was financial motivation that Matt has entered, rather for a change of career. As a former politician on the show, Lembit is naturally a target for media interviews this year, as he shares his experiences in the jungle, and as a result provides insights into likely similarities for Matt Hancock this year.

Anna Ryder Richardson

Known as the jungle agony aunt of the 2007 series, Anna Ryder Richardson finished a middling sixth in the series. British interior designer and television presenter, she has a natural charm with people and was well-liked on the show by her campmates, as well as viewers. Often remembered for giving advice to star-crossed lovers Cerys Matthews and Marc Bannerman, Anna helped Marc with advice about his then-girlfriend, Sarah Matravers. Being in amongst the drama, Anna made a name for herself and following the show has continued to be a recognisable face on TV. 

Phil Tufnell

Legendary Cricketer, Phil Tufnell, was crowned king on the jungle on the programme in 2003. To this day, he maintains his time in the jungle felt the slowest he’s ever experienced. Phil’s humorous and witty style made him a public favourite and he became increasingly popular with viewers and the outside world. Following the show, Phil became a team captain on quiz show They Think It’s All Over, before appearing on BBC’s Question of Sport, where he famously co-hosted with Rugby player, Matt Dawson. He also competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009 and continues to co-commentate on live cricket on both TV and radio.
