The profile of speaker that MBN Events were looking for included having a recognisable and impressive career in both Rugby and public speaking. The goal of the lunch was to have three speakers conduct a short speech and from that, conclude their ‘Rugby Speaker of the Year’.

Additional to his sporting successes, since his retirement from Rugby in 2015, Ugo has become one of the most insightful voices on the sport, working as a pundit and presenter on BT Sport’s coverage of top-flight Rugby. This, and his recent television appearances on both Strictly Come Dancing, and as a new team captain on the revamped A Question of Sport, made him an ideal choice for the lunch.

Ugo not only delivered a hilarious and engaging speech, but also attended the VIP drinks reception, top table for lunch, and signed several items for the event.
