From Love Island heartthrob to becoming one of the UK’s most inspirational mental health advocates, Dr Alex George is a practising doctor and reality TV star who has used his significant platform to provide support to people across the country. Alex first gained media attention when he appeared on the reality series Love Island, where his charismatic and affable nature made him an instant hit among the nation. In July 2020, his young brother tragically committed suicide which led to Alex spearheading a campaign that requested the UK Government to prioritise the mental health of children and young people during the pandemic. His campaign hugely impressed Downing Street, so much so that in 2021 Prime Minister Boris Johnson met with Alex and gave him the newly formed position of UK Youth Mental Health Ambassador. In this role, Alex works directly with the government to help tackle mental health issues among children and young people, including discussing support needed and helping with the transition back to education after lockdowns.
Alex also regularly uses his large social media following to champion mental health causes, and he has also frequently got involved with other charitable endeavours including offering his home to a Ukrainian family of refugees during the conflict with Russia.
